How to play Shanghai
Score the number — or hit the Shanghai and end it on the spot.
Rules
Work through the numbers in order — DartsKeeper plays the full 1 to 20 (pub games often stop at 7 or 9). Each round you throw three darts at the current number only: a single scores the number, a double twice the number, a treble three times. Anything off the number scores nothing.
Highest total after the last round wins.
The Shanghai
Hit a single, a double AND a treble of the current number in one visit and you score a “Shanghai” — an instant win, whatever the totals. It is rare, loud and the whole point of the game’s name.
Tips
- The treble is the money dart: T-first, then decide whether the Shanghai is on.
- Rounds on 17–20 decide most games — the same units are worth more.
- Zero rounds hurt double: no points and no pressure. When in doubt, take the fat single.
